What if I get into trouble?
Yes, you may get into trouble, but some trouble is worth it – as long as it’s the right thing to do. Accountability also helps in this area. If you’re ever in doubt, you can run your thoughts and ideas by your pastor or leader first. Remember that you don’t need permission to love and to do what’s right. You can shut down a club, a society, or an organisation, but no one can shut down love. Remember that Jesus says the greatest commandment in the Bible is to “love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
Another verse in Matthew 10:19 (ESV) says, “When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.” We are also commanded by Jesus to “love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you…” (Matthew 5:44).
